The Angels signed veteran right hander Doug Fister to a major league deal for the rest of the season. The Angels signed Fister in need of pitching help. Fister, 33, owns a 77-76 win-loss record, with a 3.60 ERA in eight big league seasons
The White Sox made a big acquisition by signing top international prospect Luis Robert to a deal worth around $25 million. Robert, 19, is from Cuba and plays the outfield. Last year in Cuba, he slugged a batting average of .401 and had 12 home runs. Robert has drawn comparisons to Dodgers' Yasiel Puig.
The Braves acquired slugger Matt Adams from the Cardinals for a prospect. The Braves need a starting first baseman after Freddie Freeman was hit by a pitch earlier this week in the arm. Freeman was having a tremendous season, until he announced he will be missing at least eight weeks of action. The Braves also signed veteran 1B James Loney, to a minor league deal
The Marlins claimed infielder Christopher Colon, from the Royals. Colon is well known for driving in the winning run of the 2015 world series for the Royals. The Marlins have certainly struggled this season after losing three of their main infielders.
The Blue Jays suspended OF Kevin Pillar for two games, after he yelled a homophobic slur towards Braves' reliever Jason Motte. Pillar did apologize and accepted his suspension
